The Music Of Heaven

Theme From Exodus  ~  By Ferrante & Teicher

I've just rediscovered one of my favorite pieces of music ever recorded. I love this song and this is my favorite rendition of it as well. I've listened to it about 20 times this morning and no matter how many times I listen to it, I break down in tears by the time it gets to the 1 minute mark. I know of the film for which it was written, but I have never seen it. But from reading the lyrics, it's got to be one of the most dramatic and romantic themes ever put to music: a 20th Century Jewish man (who survived Nazi persecution) now asking his love to take his hand and accompany him to his people's ancient homeland for the first time in over 18 centuries. It's an incredible theme.

For me personally, I enjoy closing my eyes while listening to this and envisioning the coming Kingdom for which Jesus will be on David's Throne, departed loved ones will have been resurrected, animals will roam free without fear of man or each other, and everything will be as it should be for the first time in over 6 Millennia.

If copyrights weren't such a headache, I'd use this track as a Theme Song for the Founding Word podcast.

LYRICS

This land is mine; God gave this land to me
This brave and ancient land to me
And when the morning sun reveals her hills and plain
Then I see a land where children can run free

So take my hand and walk this land with me
And walk this lovely land with me
Though I am just a man, when you are by my side
With the help of God, I know I can be strong

So take my hand and walk this land with me
And walk this lovely land with me
Though I am just a man, when you are by my side
With the help of God, I know I can be strong

To make this land our home
If I must fight, I'll fight to make this land our own
Until I die, this land is mine.

Isaiah 2:2-4
Isaiah 11:6-9
